Pond Construction.

If you would like a pond, but have small children or grand-children we will always recommend having a raised constructed ponds. Mainly this is for safety but it also means you can enjoy viewing your pond at waist level and children can also enjoy the pond but at a supervised level.

Constructed or raised ponds can add a new dimension to your garden and can be tranquil, especially with the sound of a waterfall running.

We start by finding the shape and dimensions of your pond and if required try and brick match your pond to your house or walls. Filtration systems also have their own housing constructed or if this is not viable, we try and hide them out of the viewing area. Once the structure is built, it is then rendered and fibre-glassed and when it is dry we fill up the pond and work out exactly how much water you are holding.

We never add fish straight away - this is to ensure the system is running correctly and to build up the bacteria levels. When the time comes to add the fish, we will only put a couple in to help build up the bacteria that is needed for the filter system.

If you would prefer a pond liner instead of a constructed pond, we can work out designs to suit your requirements, whether it be a raised one or a pond on ground level.

As with constructed ponds, we advise you to take your time when stocking the pond and only introduce one or two at a time.

Pond Maintenance

Contracts for pond maintenance are available if required. They can be for monthly, quarterly or half year visits, one off visits are also available. The filtration systems will be checked to ensure that it is running correctly as well as any other equipment on you pond. A part water change will be carried out and standard water tests will be done.

Please note - we are not able to diagnose and treat fish if they appear to be ill. We advise you to contact a local fish stockist who deal with fish on a regular basis and will be better equipped to advise you on fish illnesses.

As pond owners will know, dirty water in some cases can be harmful to fish. We aim to keep the water quality at the right level to provide a good, stable and healthy environment for the fish. It is also nice to be able to view them to their full potential especially if you are keeping Koi.

During the maintenance visits the filtration systems will be checked.  We also offer part water changes and always carry out water testing.

Pond Repair

We also carry out repairs to pond liners. We will endeavor to locate and fix the leaks to your ponds or pipework.  If this is not possible, we can discuss replacing them.

If you are finding predators a problem and heron statues or noise makes, such as wind chimes aren't working, we can discuss other options available.
